Cubas garden

In the heart of Marqués de Cubas street, Ricardo de la Torre's proposal for Cubas Garden is elegantly inserted among the stately nineteenth-century façades of the Salamanca district. The project stems from a lucid respect for the historic building, combining contemporary sobriety with the visual memories of its surroundings. De la Torre, faithful to his eclectic style, uses a neutral palette enhanced with details in dark green and bronze, which evoke the abundant vegetation of the suspended garden. Thus, tradition coexists peacefully with a modern and cosmopolitan atmosphere.

The interior space flows seamlessly, offering intimate nooks and crannies under a carefully orchestrated canopy of plants. De la Torre's intervention is perceived in every corner: the ceilings are kept high and painted in pristine white, to let the light penetrate and highlight noble materials - light wood, matt brass and soft marbles - favouring a sensation of spaciousness accompanied by warmth. The furniture, a mixture of contemporary designs and pieces from his own collection, enhances the visual dialogue and underlines his personal stamp.

Lighting plays a key role. Recessed spotlights, adjustable wall lights and sculptural lamps combine to modulate different atmospheres: from a cool midday ambience to an enveloping nocturnal setting. De la Torre, as he himself emphasises, considers light to be an essential element to give warmth and nuances to the interior design. This subtlety of light makes Cubas Garden a dynamic refuge, adaptable to both an informal vermouth and a sophisticated dinner.

The presence of plants, always present, is not just decoration: it is a key part of the design. Medium-sized plants, hanging plants and selected shrubs form a suspended vegetation that introduces visual freshness and connects emotionally with the visitor. The ensemble emulates the balance that De la Torre seeks between nature and geometry, between the domestic and the urban, and between the classic and the renovated. Thus, the restaurant becomes an urban oasis where tradition -eclecticism of noble materials- and modernity -plants, clean lines- find a harmonious balance.
