Ricardo de la Torre

INTERIOR

CASTELLÓ

Ricardo de la Torre is responsible for the refurbishment of this 1960s penthouse in which the ceilings and the design have been raised. The client's request was to create open spaces with lots of light and gain height in the house, as this type of construction has low ceilings.

The project exudes elegance and purity, with a delicate interior design in which design and art fill precise and spacious spaces with life. From being a dark, compartmentalised space, the flat has been transformed into an open concept, which plays with flexibility through sliding doors and, above all, is very bright. Especially the common area, where kitchen, dining room and living room share space and communicate directly with the terrace of the flat.

In the house, some of the solutions designed by Ricardo de la Torre stand out, as is the case of the large living room furniture, made of wood, which makes the most of the space by adding a lot of stylish storage. In this way, the staggered walls were saved, as it is a wall adjoining the building and has parts that are more recessed than others. In addition to shelving and storage space, the piece integrates an elegant bar unit.

Nearby, in the kitchen, sliding doors and a wooden slatted partition were installed to communicate and delimit the space. The sliding doors leading to the living room have been a solution to have more privacy when necessary.
The penthouse has three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, one of which, the master bedroom, has a dressing room and access to the terrace. The entire design is by Ricardo de la Torre, including the headboard, bedside tables, table lamps and stools.

The biggest challenge of the project was to play with different materials on the floors, from the entrance to the terrace, forming large geometric patterns, making it very subtle and elegant.
