Ricardo de la Torre

INTERIOR

Avila

In a country house located in the heart of the Ávila mountains, the interior designer Ricardo de la Torre strikes a delicate balance between ancestral rusticity and contemporary functionality. The house, with stone walls and sloping ceilings with exposed beams, proudly preserves its original language while introducing modern resources that dignify the everyday use of the space. The kitchen, built on site, is presented as an honest and robust gesture, with integrated worktops and shelves in matt white that dialogue with the stainless steel of the splashback and utensils. Everything is visible: a manifesto of aesthetic sincerity.

The use of primary materials, such as stone and wood, is combined with a clean, rational design without superfluous ornamentation. In the living room, textures are calmly superimposed: stone, fabric, wood and iron coexist without competing. The dark wooden beams stand out against the white ceiling, providing a warm and enveloping visual structure. The furniture - sofas upholstered in stone grey, chairs with curved lines and soft fabrics - introduces a subtle modernity that does not seek to impose, but rather to accompany the original architecture of the house.

De la Torre's intervention is characterised by its ability to contain the essential and discard the unnecessary. Every object seems to have a purpose: from the built-in bookcase to the vintage desk lamp or the metal-legged coffee table, everything contributes to a functional, simple and welcoming domestic narrative. This sensibility also translates into the treatment of natural light, which enters through windows without heavy curtains, respecting the transparency of the rural environment.

This house in Ávila is not just a residence, but a manifesto of how to live the rustic from a contemporary point of view. Ricardo de la Torre renounces the decorative cliché and opts for an aesthetic of the essential, where noble materials and constructive logic are the protagonists. The general atmosphere is that of a serene refuge, where the past is honoured with dignity and the present is enjoyed with lightness.
